Stunning Valletta

Valletta is an unforgettable city, utterly, gloriously beautiful, steeped in history and is a mecca for culture lovers. Art Galleries, Museums and utterly fabulous buildings abound. Café culture is high here, and done with style, with open air cafes spilling out onto plazas, piazzas, squares and courts, perfect for enjoying the marvellous views. Valletta’s streets tend to be long, narrow and straight. The city was built on a grid format, probably to make it easier to defend. These streets are full of amazing sights, doors, balconies, tiny shops and eateries. Valletta (or Il-Belt) is the tiny capital of the Mediterranean island nation of Malta. The walled city was established in the 1500s on a peninsula by the Knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order. It’s known for museums, palaces, and grand churches. Baroque landmarks include St. John’s Co-Cathedral, whose opulent interior is home to the Caravaggio masterpiece "The Beheading of Saint John”.
