The Salt Pans, Zebbug, Gozo, Malta

Here in Gozo, the process of making artisan salt through evaporation goes back to Phoenician and Roman times. The salt pans, lovingly worked by a Gozitan family, are situated on the north coast of Gozo near to Zebbug, a mile or so west of Marsalforn. A harmonious sight and totally fascinating. I applaud the family for keeping this marvelous tradition alive.
