Sensational Sunflower

What can be said about sunflowers that has not already been said? Love them or hate them, (personally I adore them, but I am a bit of an extrovert) Sunflowers are the happy flower of gardens especially with children and people who like to compete for the tallest. Of course, some sunflowers have been bread to be knee high, multi flowered, but the one everyone associates with is the single headed gentle giant, I got mine to 12 feet this year, grown from seed on my windowsill, and admired by every child that passed the house. Pollinating insects adore them, and I cut the heads off and lay them on the bird table to be a vital source of food for the birds, that is, if the local family of squirrels doesn’t get there first!
